Opening Remarks: An Enchanting Time

This is a really terrific time of year in New Mexico. The weather is just awesome. Blues skies, warm temperatures in the afternoon, but crisp and cool in the mornings. We have mountains, mesas, roasted chile and hot air balloons. The annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta starts October 2 and what a sight it is. I never tire of seeing the colorful balloons – hundreds of them – floating above the Rio Grande River or flying over my backyard (it drives my dog crazy!). This time of year reinforces why New Mexico is known as the “Land of Enchantment”.

In the television show, Flash Forward, which aired last year and unfortunately did not get renewed, the storyline revolved around how on one day, October 6, 2009, everyone in the world blacked out at the same time for two minutes and seventeen seconds. During this global loss of consciousness people saw visions of their life six months into the future, a flash forward rather than a flashback. When they came to they had to deal with the reality of what happened and how they would live with their new knowledge about the future. It was an intriguing drama.

On October 10 of this year everyone has a chance to tell the rest of the world about a life. Not everyone will do it, of course, but the premise and promise behind One Day on Earth is grand. People from around the world will contribute to documenting the world’s story. They will do this by creating videos around people, projects, educational lessons, causes and numerous collaborative efforts. The idea was birthed in 2008 and this year the memorable date of October 10 – 10/10/10 – has been chosen as the focal point for thousands of participants to simultaneously film over a 24 hour period.

When you visit the website, www.onedayonearth.org, you can learn about the event, educators can create classroom projects for students, people can join various groups who are planning their focus around themes as diverse as cultural events, art, yoga lovers, spirituality, time lapses around the world and people born on October 10. It’s really incredible. There is also a plan to create a documentary about this event.

What will you do on 10/10/10? Will you be a spectator or a participant? Either way, spread the word and support a global effort to preserve a day in the life of planet earth.

Resources You Can Use

A Really Great Journaling Tool

A journal is a tremendous tool to record thoughts, events, ideas, memories and insight about our lives. One of the very best computer software journal options is the aptly named The Journal Personal Journaling Software from DavidRM Software.

We live in a world that is fast paced and people have multiple priorities. The Journal software will help you stay organized, plan well and keep track of the important events, reflections, ideas and memories that will help you find meaning in your life. It’s invaluable for your memoir, but also for many other applications. I highly recommend you find out more here.

E-learn How to Put Your Passion on the Web

I’ve recounted numerous times about how it took me a fair amount of time, money and energy before I found a great solution to my online needs. It’s part of my story that led me to working with others to preserve life stories. More than hosting a website, more than search engine placement, more than keyword brainstorming, more than excellent customer support, more than a way to be found on the Internet with lots of targeted traffic - more is the operative word when it comes to SBI. I use it for my site. You can build a successful online presence yourself with SBI and all the tools you are given. But if you need expert guidance and instruction and want to take it to the next level you need to investigate the E-learning option. It has now become much more affordable and it is the fastest way to get started with SBI and will also teach you incredibly valuable skills. In fact, this course is taught at major universities, but you can take it online for a fraction of the price.

E-learning is perfect for anyone who wants to earn while they learn. Take a couple of minutes to get more information – it is well worth your time and it just might be the perfect way for you to pursue your passion and share it online with others!
